Capturing the journey of preservation and the boardwalk's vital role in Cairns
Opened in 1988, the Jack Barnes Boardwalk is a cherished piece of Cairns' heritage, winding through mangrove wetlands of immense environmental, indigenous, educational, and tourism value. Over time, the boardwalk had deteriorated, risking the loss of a beloved landmark deeply ingrained in the community.
To honour its reopening and underscore the importance of its restoration, we created a short documentary-style video. Featuring interviews with key individuals — including the original engineer and Jack Barnes's daughter — the video delved into the boardwalk's significance and the collaborative efforts that brought it back to life.
