A Cohesive Rebrand for an Iconic Reef Operator

Modernising Reef Magic's brand identity to complement the launch of their state-of-the-art pontoon at Moore Reef

Reef Magic, offering Great Barrier Reef tours since 1997, recognised that their existing branding no longer reflected their status as industry leaders. With the launch of their new state-of-the-art pontoon located 45 km east of Cairns at Moore Reef, a comprehensive rebrand was essential to align their image with their vision and appeal to modern travellers.

The goal was to create a modern and stylish brand identity that would set them apart in the competitive tourism market. By encapsulating key elements that represent their brand identity, values, and the natural beauty of the reef, Reef Magic aimed to solidify their position as a premier reef experience provider.

Bringing the Reef Magic Rebrand to Life

Crafting distinctive design elements to create a fresh and cohesive brand identity

The rebranding process began with the development of three Stylescapes — advanced mood boards exploring unique directions and moods for the brand. Option 2 was selected, paving the way for the new logo and overall branding.

Design elements included patterns inspired by the Maori Wrasse fish, an icon of the reef, featuring organic shapes and overlapped brand icons. The colour palette drew from the blues of the ocean and shades of coral, reflecting the marine environment. These patterns and colours were applied across various mediums, including the new pontoon and marketing collateral, ensuring consistent and engaging brand representation.

Additionally, a 6-page A4 brochure was designed, integrating critical information with the new branding elements to form cohesive marketing materials. Custom icons were crafted to define and support the brand. The result was a revitalised brand identity that resonated with their target audience and set Reef Magic apart in the tourism industry.
